CLICHES ABOUT NYC
(featuring special guest contributors from the Reunion Group, Floriane Cadet & Eva Latchimy)Do you want to know if the stereotypes about NYC are true? Do you want to know if girls are beautiful? If boys are hot? Or things like that? Read on to find out!
NYC is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Like every beautiful city, NY shelters many cliches, good and bad! So we tried to find out which ones are true and false. Here are some of the most common cliches about NYC:
- People are fat.
- People are busy all the time.
- People don't care about anything.
Second cliche: According to people, New Yorkers are always busy. Of course, this kind of cliche gives a bad image of NYC. But we have to know that they are kind "when they slow down a little", said one New Yorker. People judge New Yorkers by meeting only one person, even if it's false.
Last cliche: People in NYC are ignorant...personally, we think that this cliche is true AND false. It just depends on who you meet. For example, when we were lost in Manhattan on our first day, we asked where the subway station was. Some of them ignored us, but some helped. A man even walked a little bit with us, just to be sure we found the subway.
A lot of people judge without knowing the truth. We think it's quite easy to believe them. But they should spend enough time to learn the truth!

Anastasiya's "Perfect Day in NYC"
This month, Russian student Anastasiya Sergeeva, shares with us her "perfect day in NYC":
A "perfect day" for me is in Brooklyn...In Williamsburg, there's awesome coffee and I'm always inspired by the atmosphere! After spending time in Williamsburg, I like going to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a place full of greenery, flowers and singing birds. Thank you New York for your beauty and romantic weekends!!
NYC Teen Life
(featuring special guest contributors from the Reunion Group, Yann Goasguen & Romain Smith)
When teens of the world think about NYC teen life, they all think about a happy life full of parties. Is it real or not? We went to NYC to ask people what they actually think about the topic.
First of all, we saw that this cliche is not far from reality. Indeed, some teens do party every week, but there is also a part of them who only go to parties once a month. But even if they have a lot of fun, they study hard at school and are very serious and calm in class. And like lots of teens all over the planet, they study basic subjects such as math, science, history and languages.
As far as food is concerned, it is almost true to say that NYC teens usually eat greasy food like pizzas and hamburgers, but sometimes they eat salads and chicken in order not gain too much weight because they want to take care of their image. It seems that it works because a big part of them have boyfriends or girlfriends in the same school!
Finally, taking care of their image isn't only by watching what they eat. In fact, NYC teens deeply follow the current trends in terms of music and clothes. They also find that French teems are more relaxed, and according to them it's a good thing: "I really had a good time when I studied in France because people are calmer", said Frank, a boy we spoke with.
To conclude, although NYC teens are really good at doing parties and so are not very far from what we think about them, sometimes it is true that these teens want some peace!
Gerald's Book Release Party
On Sunday, July 27, students, staff and friends came out to celebrate the launch of ML teacher Gerald Hansen's fourth novel, Best Served Frozen.
Gerald's previous novels have appeared on Amazon, iTunes and Barnes & Noble's best-seller lists. We have no doubts that his latest novel will also be a best-seller! Congratulations Gerald!! (Or, as Gerald would say..."WOO HOO!")
